Alumni News - 4/23/10

Hello fellow Bronco wrestlers. This will be the first of many informational letters that will help keep all Bronco wrestling alumni updated on the current status of our program. We hope you enjoy this information and look forward to hearing from you. The 2009-10 season is over and to sum up the season there is only one word that best describes it – change!

The team finished the regular dual season with a 2-3 record. Our two victories came at the expense of Lebanon (on criteria) and Loveland. This marks the 3rd straight year we have defeated Loveland in our annual “Battle for the Shoe” in-school dual. We placed 3rd in the league with Kurtis Fox, Tory Bauer and Justin Dillinger winning titles and qualified 4 wrestlers to the districts (Kurtis Fox, Tory Bauer, Justin Dillinger and Jake Bering). Fox and Bauer both missed qualifying for state by one match!

Buidling an Alumni List

We are looking to compile a database of any wreslters, coaches, managers, parents, and statiticans that took part in Western Brown Wrestling. If you notice that I have left one out, please fillout this online form. I would also like to have addresses on all of these names. I have none, so please submit your information. Thanks, Harmon Sizemore ('91). Pass this on to others that you believe would be interested.

A look back in history.

By John Storer (1979)

During my sophomore year (1977) after football, a couple of football coaches started an after school program where we would wrestle and box.  I remember going down to Williamsburg and participating in a practice.  Sometime during that same time period as I understand it, Alma Monk proposed to make a donation to the school.  With her blessing the money was used to help start up the wrestling program.  The mat even had the Circle M Farm logo on it.  We had nice gear, warm-up suit, head gear, and a brown singlet with a gold WB on the front.  At least we looked good!

The first Head Wrestling Coach was Joe Moore.  Mr. Moore was an assistant football coach who had a lot in common with the rest of us.  He knew nothing about wrestling.  He did have an assistant with a wrestling background but I don't recall his name.  He didn't last the season.
